Design and conduct research surveys. 2007 - Present YWCA OF HAWAII ISLAND EMPOWERING ALTERNATIVES PROGRAM, Hilo, HI Program Director Direct the operation of sexual assault prevention education and response services to the island of Hawaii. The program provides community and educational institution based prevention programming, a 24 hour sexual assault crisis hotline, emotional support and advocacy for persons who have been recently sexually assaulted, and recovery therapy. 2006 - 2007 UNIVERSITY OF HAWAI’I-HILO COUNSELING CENTER, Hilo, HI Student Intern Counselor Provided educational, career, mental health, couples, group, and personal counseling to students. Conducted college success programs with students placed on academic probation. Trained students in personal value assessment and resume writing for career planning. Provided mental health treatment for depression, suicide, anxiety, stress, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and substance abuse. Personal counseling addressed issues such as relationship and family problems, domestic abuse, prostitution, unplanned pregnancy, sexual orientation and gender identity questions. Facilitated the PRIDE Hilo personal support group. 2003 - 2004 CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY COLLEGE, San Diego, CA Student Intern Counselor Provided individual personal counseling to students in a classroom setting. Issues addressed included relationship and family problems, academic performance and stress, and sexual orientation questioning. 1999 NORTH PARK FAMILY HEALTH CENTER, San Diego, CA HIV Prevention Counselor Provided HIV prevention health education and counseling in a clinical setting. Group Facilitator Facilitated group meetings of young-adult substance abuse recovery patients in a residential treatment facility and support group meetings of persons undergoing gender identity transition in a community setting. 1984 - 1985 SIERRA ROYALE HOSPITAL, Azusa, CA Occupational Therapy Assistant Facilitated art therapy, gardening therapy, and recreational therapy sessions with substance abusing, emotionally disturbed, and mentally ill young-adult patients in a residential hospital setting.
